This afternoon we’ve returned to blue sky. This morning’s brightness darkened to heavy rain, then brightened again… and the swirl of these clouds this afternoon is just plain awesome.

rose riches
This rose makes me smile every time I look at it: such soft petals and yet depth of colour. It's blooming in a neighbour's garden, one that I pass by when I walk the dog, and there's just no way I can pass by without bending down and drawing in its rich fragrance, as rich in fragrance as it is in colour.
Yesterday I took a photo and this morning its been my delight to play with the image and present it as a piece of photo art. I hope you can almost smell the fragrance, and sense the velvet softness of the petals. I sure can!
filtered sunlight
What a delight to see the way the filtered light illuminates the pansies. These lovely flowers on the deck seem almost to dance in the light.
Yellow rumped warbler
Nature’s Spotlight
This morning’s walk in the forest was a delight with the sun slanting through and highlighting the shapes of trees and roots.
A couple of times I simply had to stop and note the way the sun was highlighting a particular place, as though it was important for us to look and see the lines, the design, the light and shadow.
This photo is one of several I took at those moments, noting what nature’s spotlight was showing me.
What ‘Nature’s Spotlight’ has pointed out to you today?
Reaching for the light
Spring has been so late this year. At least.. it sure feels like it! So these tulips reaching for the light speak volumes... leaning towards the light, reaching for it, and drawn to its warmth ...
a last bouquet
In the garden for fall clean up there were still a few snaps, nasturtiums and sweet peas, so I gathered this last offering from the summer with gratitude. I love the way the morning light highlights its soft beauty and warm colours.
exquisite beauty along the path
Walking along the path to the beach, surrounded by a tangle of tall dried grasses, the grey twisted limbs of Ocean Spray and a tangle of bare wild rose canes, I was struck by the pattern and colour! Exquisite, wild and unexpected beauty, the designs, patterns and artistry. On both sides, all around.
With this image, the deeper I look, the more intriguing the patterns. And yet, I could have simply walked on past, thinking the only thing was to get to the beach at the end of the path…
Eagle …Watching
Its always a delight to watch the eagles—
This one was perched in the large fir tree by the end of our Point, calling to its mate nearby.
even with a limited view…
The fog has enfolded us for several days. We can barely see across our bay, and certainly can't see any farther. At the same time, while our view is limited, there's a different kind of beauty even now— even here shrouded in the mists.
In the forests, the mosses practically glow in the diffused light, and the depth of the forest is more 'visible' as the trees fade into the mist. On the roads, the shapes of the bare trees are revealed — unique sculptures, each one. Spider webs are strings of tiny beads, as the moisture forms on each slender thread.
What is it you see when the fog enfolds?
